NAUI ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR COURSE FACT SHEET


Course Schedule
Three classroom sessions (approximately 3.5 hours each)
Two pool sessions
Two dive trips with Five open water dives (includes attending and assisting with one scuba diver class), all to be scheduled.

Prerequisites
At least 18 years old
SDI/NAUI Master Scuba Diver
Current First Aid/CPR (2-person Adult)
SDI/NAUI Rescue Diver or Equivalent
Have SDI or NAUI Rescue manual and NAUI Master Scuba Diver manual
Desire to have fun while learning how to be a top dive leader

Course Content
Orientation to NAUI, legal responsibilities and Assistant Instructor duties
Orientation to shore and boat supervision
Orientation to guiding students on the surface and underwater
Orientation to teaching techniques, emergency procedures and open water rescue

Scuba Skills
Review of basic skills, night dive, boat dive, beach dive, rescue, scuba ditch and recovery, scuba bailout, buddy breathing without mask, skin diving ditch and recovery, and gear exchange

Course Investment

Only $315. Fee includes all classroom and pool sessions, Mastering Leadership textbook. Also, includes initial Membership Registration.

Student Responsibilities
Attend all classroom and pool sessions, as well as one Scuba Diver
Read and understand all text and any supplemental material
Provide all of the necessary equipment (in good working order) and transportation
Attend at least two regularly scheduled dive trips
Monitor air (500 psi min.), Depth (130’ max.), time (varies)
Utilize a computer or dive tables to prepare for each dive
Log all dives and request an Instructor signature and dive debriefing
Be prompt and prepared to dive (mentally and physically)
