SDI HIGH ALTITUDE DIVER COURSE FACT SHEET


Course Schedule
One classroom session (approximately 3.5 hours)
Two open, fresh water dives, to be scheduled
Class can be scheduled anytime (call for details)

Prerequisites
Certified scuba diver
At least 10 years of age
Provide own equipment and transportation
Desire to have fun and learn more about diving

Special Features
Learn how to adjust your weighting requirements
Learn how to use an altitude correction table
All dives can be completed in one day

Course Investment
Only $95. This fee includes tuition, conversion table, and certification for those fulfilling the requirements. Full payment is due at sign-up.

Student Responsibilities
Attend one classroom sessions and understand the material
Study the formulas and know how to use them
Pass the NAUI Altitude/Fresh Water exam
Pay for and attend the scheduled dive trip
Monitor air (500 psi min.), depth (60' max.), time (varies)
Utilize the conversion table to calculate the end of dive letter group for each dive
Log all dives and request an Instructor signature
Be prompt and prepared to dive (mentally and physically)
Meet with Instructor after each dive for a debriefing

ALTITUDE DIVING PROCEDURE
1. Begin diving with an arrival letter group and calculate your RNT.
2. Plan the dive based on the altitude and the theoretical depth in conjunction with the actual depth of the dive.
3. Dive the actual depth using the correction factor when needed.
4. Ascend at the proper ascent rate for the altitude being dived.
5. Perform a safety stop at the appropriate depth for the altitude being dived.

ALTITUDE DIVING RULES
1. Wait one day acclimation or begin the dive with a letter group.
2. Perform no more than 2 deep dives per day.
3. Wait a surface interval of at least one hour.
4. Complete a safety stop on every dive.
5. Wait 12 hours for a single dive or 24 hours for repetitive dives, before flying or driving to elevation (including mountain passes).
6. Absolutely NO decompression diving.
